WINDOW WASHING SOLUTION
household window washing solution
The best way to keep your windows sparklingly clean without any effort is to have your regular monthly window cleaner to come with his ladders, wipers and cloths to do the job for you!!
But many people find having an unknown window-cleaner looking into the rooms of the house at any time of the day intrusive and would rather do the job less frequently themselves.
There are many types of commercial cleaning products including special cloths and solutions that will carry full instructions for use, but there are also tried and tested old fashioned and cheaper methods which can work as well.
How to wash and clean your own Windows
- If you are washing your own house windows, be very, very careful if you are using a ladder to reach the high windows.
- Make sure there is always someone to hold the ladder at the bottom and that the ladder is really securely fixed before you mount it.
- Many windows now open in a special way to allow your arm to reach through to do the cleaning. This is a much safer way but also be very careful not to reach out too far and fall out!
A popular and simple window washing solution is one that uses white vinegar mixed in water.
Use Water + Vinegar for Cleaning Windows
- If your windows are very dirty then wash them first with warm soapy water to remove most of the dirt from the glass, frames, hinges and handles.
- Rinse everything in warm clear water to remove the soap.
- Gather some old newspapers and clean rags or microfiber cloths.
- Make a mix of ½ water to ½ white vinegar and pour it into a spray bottle.
- Spray this mixture onto your windows.
- Dry with your cloths and use crunched up newspapers to take away any smears and to give a shine to the glass.
