Personal Organization Tips and Ideas for Getting Organized And Staying That Way

So many people want to improve their personal organization that getting organized is right up there with weight loss and stopping smoking as a New Year's resolution.
How to get organized is a mystery to some people and yet organized living comes naturally to many others.
Those who lead an organized life often are unaware as to what exactly they do to keep their life under control and somewhat predictable instead of chaotic.
If getting organized is on your New Year's solution list here are some of my favourite organizing tips and ideas.
Schedule It
Live your life according to a set schedule. Go to bed and get up at the same time everyday. Follow the same routine in the morning for getting ready for work. Do you laundry on a specified day, follow the same routine when you come home from work for opening the mail etc.
There is a reason why highly organized professionals like nurses and accountants do things on a regular schedule--it works to make sure that the most necessary things get done on time and unfinished business does not pile up and become overwhelming.
List It
If you do not already have one get a day planner or even an ordinary calendar and write down the activities for each day.
Also include annual or monthly tasks on the calendar such as starting your income tax return, or preparing for birthday, Christmas and other family celebrations.
Eliminate It
Reconsider if you really have to do it or is it something that you can let go of and let someone else complete?
Turn off the cell phone and let people leave messages for you. Research shows that more than 60% of calls can easily be handled by leaving a message.
If you cannot eliminate it consider if you could reduce it. Do you really need to clean each bathroom top to bottom every week or could you get away with a mini clean once per week and then a full clean every other week.
Digitize It
Your life will be so much simpler if you take the time to set up electronic banking, bill payments, and personal communications rather that using paper based snail mail or telephones. Many bills can be paid automatically through electronic fund transfers or through online banking. If you do online banking make sure to schedule a bill payment day every month in your day planner!
Electronic communications (voice mail and emails)puts you in charge of how and when you return personal communications and you are not a slave to the telephone!
If you schedule it, list it, eliminate it and digitize it you will have automatically improved your personal organization and life will proceed more smoothly,l and isn't that what getting organized is all about?
