Mice are one of the most frequently encountered household pests. They are good climbers and can squeeze through gaps the width of a pencil.
The Field Mouse is a brown little mouse with while coloured fur on its underside. It has more prominent ears and larger eyes than the House Mouse. I think it is really rather sweet and usually only comes into the warmth of a house in the colder Autumn and Winter months for nesting and food.
Household Pests
The House Mouse is grey and has a long whiskers and long and almost hairless tail. Each mouse produces around 70 little oval shaped droppings every 24 hours! They make their nests out of chewed paper or suchlike and breed prolifically. Mice love to nibble nuts, cereals of all kinds, dried fruit and, like us humans, they love chocolate!
All rodents, need to gnaw to keep their incisor teeth worn down and in good shape. Like the rat, these creatures can do a lot of damage by gnawing through cables, wood, pipes, packaging and more.

Salmonella
These rodents are capable of carrying many diseases particularly Salmonella food poisoning.
Rodent Control Measures.
STORE ALL PEST CONTROL CHEMICALS WHERE CHILDREN CANNOT POSSIBLY REACH THEM.
Block any holes into the house. The best way to block these holes is to mix wire wool with some cement.
Block any holes in the skirtings, floors and ceilings.
Mouse traps can be of some use when there are few mice around.
Domestic cats are usually too well fed to bother to chase a mouse and the mouse has the advantage as it can hide in places inaccessible to the cat!
A mouse can take its food in nibbles from many sources, baiting is often not very successful as they do not eat enough in one go of one type of food to kill them. Most have become immune to the commonest killer drug made from warferin, but among other control drugs, it is now is possible to buy a baiting drug that sends the mouse to sleep and it will die painlessly of hypothermia(cold).
If you have a serious mouse problem in your house do contact your local Council Offices to ask for advice.
