Spring Assisted and Electrically Powered Loft Stairs
Ladders come either in standard sizes or can be made to measure.
They are fixed either to the trap door or the joists and some have a counterbalance mechanism to assist with lowering and stowing.
Most ladders are SPRING ASSISTED to provide a smooth gliding action. Some ladders are electrically powered to give the user TOTAL CONTROL.
ALUMINIUM ladders are LIGHTWEIGHT and easy to use. WOODEN ladders are considered more STYLISH and QUIETER TO OPERATE.
Types of Folding Loft Ladders
TWO SECTION FOLDING LADDER
These ladders are typically made of aluminium and are ideal for occasional loft access. They usually have metal rungs, rubber feet and one or two handrails and come with an aluminium pole.
THREE SECTION FOLDING LADDER:
These sliding ladders can be constructed from aluminium or timber. They require less storage space than the two section ones and are ideal for frequent loft access.
CONCERTINA:
It is worth considering this type of ladder if you have a limited access space or high ceilings. They are compact and will fit into most vertical openings. They are considered safe, sturdy and stable. Some can be power assisted and they come with carpeted treads for extra grip. Some have hand rails.
TELESCOPIC:
These ladders are completely housed in the loft opening taking up no loft space.
