The Amazon Kindle is a popular buy as it very easy to use and has the benefit of its vast, own, on-line bookshop. Users report that it is a good e-book for when you read outside in the sunshine.
The Sony Reader has partnered with Waterstone and is regarded as a more hardwearing gadget as it can survive a short drop onto a hard surface and is also readable in the sunshine.
The Imagin Colour Ebook is a small e-reader and has a colour screen. It can store photos, videos and even play music through headphones or built in speakers.
The Apple Ipad also has a e-reader and is in colour. At present, it does not have a massive choice of books, not good read in sunlight but it does have a fully featured computer and entertainment centre.
As with all things, choices are difficult to make. It does depend on the features you require, the size that suits your pocket and the cost of this gadget.
The Apple Ipad is the most expensive e-reader but has lots of programmes on it and the other three retail at similar price of around £100.
The Amazon Kindle and other e-books will keep your place in each book and even allow you to make notes in the margin.
You can search the text for words or phrases and change the type size to suit your eyesight needs and also enjoy reading both inside a building or outside.
