Home treatments for How to Remove Mold from Clothes
Check any washing instructions and where appropriate soak the item in cold water for 30minutes and then wash it on a warm cycle, using a Borax laundry detergent. Borax is a natural mold cleaner.
If the stain remains and if the item with the mold stain is white, you can use bleach.
Dabbing on neat bleach may damage the fabric, so it is worth mixing bleach to a weaker strength to see if that works first.
It is suggested that you try 1 tablespoon of chlorine bleach to 1 pint of hot water and dab the solution onto the stain and leaving it for about 10 minutes and then rinsing the bleach out.
If the item of clothing is colored, then the advice is to try mixing lemon juice with salt and dabbing this on the stain and then rinsing. Do try a test patch first.
Dry cleaning clothes is usually, but not always, effective in killing and removing mold spores.
And if the worse comes to the worst and if the mold fungus is dead but the stain is still there, you could sew on a pocket or a patch to hide the stain!!
GOOD LUCK
