HOUSEHOLD PESTS
The warmth, food and shelter of our home can provide a wonderful habitat for household pests most of whom are not at all welcome to our hospitality !
Even though your house may be well built, uncluttered and kept clean, pesky insects, creeping bugs, hungry rodents and casual garden wanderers can become expensive lodgers!
Some pests such as fleas, lice and bed bugs will happily live off us.
Household Bugs
- larder beetles, flour moths and cockroaches enjoy eating our food and can bring disease into our homes,
- clothes moths and carpet beetles enjoy eating and damaging our textiles, clothing and furnishing
- Some pests are mainly seasonal visitors such as flies, wasps and mice
- Woodworm and Common Furniture Beetle love to gnaw at our rafters and even the structure of our buildings.
- Flies, cockroaches, mice and rats can carry disease organisms and are may be a threat to our health.
- Others pests are harmless, casual visitors but capable of causing untold human stress. Unfortunately for these creatures, most of us still dislike them invading our homes and we continually seek ways to get rid of all bothersome pests in the home.
Many of our houses can contain attractive dens to household bugs, due to the way we like to stream-line our buildings and install boxed-in areas for our ducts and pipes and some of us may even provide places of comfort above false ceilings. Our houses are warm and provide many sheltered nooks for pests to raise their families. We might have wall to wall carpeting to house a few carpet beetles and we may enjoy the company of dogs and cats who in turn can provide a perfect habitat to fleas!
Can we blame this wild-life for believing our houses are a safe haven for them to raise their large families?!!
