We can all benefit from reading some sensible household cleaning tips.
Even if you are able to employ a cleaner, there are many little jobs that need doing every day.
Professional cleaners can only do their job well if the members of the household keep their belongings tidy and organized.
In the majority of homes, the cleaning is done by one member of the family but it is up to all the members to help in every way possible.

THE PLAN

  • Keep your belongings decluttered.
  • Everything in your house must have a place, whether on display, in a closet or in storage.
  • Have a cleaning programme and choose the method that suits your needs the best. Some people have a small clean-up every day, others do a bigger clean once a week and others do it when they think the house really needs a good clean.

THE ACTION

Make a plan of how you are going to organize the cleaning.

  • Some people like to do all the household cleaning themselves.
  • Others like to share cleaning with the members of their family or friends.
  • These are the sort of jobs that need to be done routinely, once a week or more often.

Catch up on the clothes washing
Wash up, tidy up, return all items and toys to their rightful places.
Do the ironing and put away all the clothes
Changing the bed-linen and towels
Vacuum all the rooms
Dust and polish any surfaces
Clean the bathrooms and kitchen

These are the jobs that need doing once a month or more often

  • Clean out the fridge thoroughly.
  • Clean the oven if necessary
  • Clean out a few cupboards and drawers
  • Vacuum the mattresses
  • Clean windows when necessary

These are the jobs that need doing yearly or more often

  • Check through the freezer and de-frost if necessary
  • Wash or dry-clean the curtains and duvets
  • Beat any mats or rugs
  • Turn over the mattress probably 4 times a year but check the label first
  • Pull out the furniture and cleaning underneath

Check the Outside of the House

Keep a good check on the condition of the outside of the house. If the walls, roof or drainage systems are defective, further serious problems can arise.
