Sometimes it is difficult knowing where to start with your home office organization but when you have decided that, quite definitely that it needs to be done, make a plan of how you want your revamped home office to look and function, and then try to organize for yourself, one whole day of peace where it is just you and your office.

  • Be persistent in returning all unwanted mail to the sender or contact the sender by phone or e-mail to stop further correspondence.

  • When you disposing of letters and envelopes, remember to make sure you shred any evidence of your personal details.

  • Your filing system must suit your working style.
  • File things away in filing drawers, concertina files, A4 box files or well labelled boxes. The most important thing is to name every file clearly and regularly check if items can be disposed of or put into well labelled storage for later reference.
