It is really worth spending time thinking how you are going to arrange the storage. Garages have three walls, a ceiling and a floor, all of which can be utilized for furniture and gadgets to store all the many things that find their way into the garage!

If the garage cabinets do not have legs or castors then it is advisable to mount them off the floor. Not only will this protect them from accidental water damage but also the extra air currents will deter insects and rodents from creeping underneath and building their cosy homes.

• Plywood--A lightweight material requiring painting or varishing to maintain its condition.
  

The strength of the chosen garage shelving must be appropriate to the weight it is expected to carry.

A traditional pegboard is a large board hung on the wall. The board is punctured with holes into which hooks are placed. Various tools and other items can be hung from these hooks.

• Wooden--More durable than hardboard.
  
• Metal--strong and durable and are supplied with metal locking pegboard hooks.
