There are a number of ways to design your kitchen. Arm yourself with numerous catalogues, books from the library, information from the internet and take yourself to the stores to get good kitchen ideas.

Design your Kitchen for Free

To design your kitchen, you now need to study your brochures and any internet information for new ideas. You must also note the measurements of your chosen kitchen wall and floor cabinets, any new appliances, your sink and any free standing kitchen furniture.

• Use your computer to download and print graph paper.
• Measure out your kitchen very carefully in millimetres and draw the shape of the room in an appropriate scale onto the graph paper. Measure the height of your ceilings as wall units come in different heights and sizes. Remember to include where the windows, doors, pipes, radiators, gas and electrics are.
• Make cut-outs, to scale using thin cardboard, of your planned kitchen furniture, sink and appliances. Then arrange your new kitchen design onto your graph paper. Do not stick your cut-outs onto the big plan yet. Leave this plan on view for a few days and keep thinking of ways to improve your design.
Take your completed plan to a shop selling kitchen furniture and get their opinion on the feasibility of your design or take it to your local kitchen fitter. They may be able to give you more ideas on how to improve your plans and offer their free kitchen designs service.

These planning tools can be very useful but you usually need to be patient and computer literate. Some downloads have no strings attached but most free downloads ask for your e-mail address to contact you about their services. Other downloads for planning tools may be free for a limited time only. Always read any given terms and conditions.

Free kitchen designing from Kitchen Retailers or Shops selling Kitchen Furniture.

Many firms will come to your house and measure up and design a new kitchen for you. Some firms will leave or send you their finished plan to study and keep, while other firms will discuss their ideas with you and only give you their finished design when you decide to buy the new kitchen from their outlet. If you decide not to buy they may charge you for their visit. Before you book a home visit remember to ask if there are any conditions attached to the visit.
