Household Pests. The Cat Flea
Cat flea photo by Andybrookestar courtesy of Wikipedia
These household pests are most active in the late summer.
This biting pest is most commonly found in homes. It measures around 2-3 mm long, is reddish-brown and flattened around its sides.
They are very clever little bugs. They lay their eggs in fur, clothing, bedding or carpets.
The eggs hatch into tiny legless, thread–like creatures who then weave silken cocoons.
The new creatures only emerge out of their cocoons when they feel the vibrations of their future hosts loitering in their vicinity.
Out pop the little blighters and enjoy their first taste of blood!
As we well know, they leave a small red spot and a very irritating bite.

Declutter and Organize the Home
Obtain the correct insecticidal powder, aerosol and fumigation pellets from your local supplier.
If possible put a dusting of specific insecticide into the vacuum dust bag.
Use the vacuum cleaner to thoroughly clean the carpets and floor, paying particular attention to any cracks in the floor boards and gaps around the skirtings.
Clean the bed frame and wash or dry-clean the bedding.
When everything in the room is thoroughly cleaned then use the insecticidal treatment following exactly the given instructions.
Treat all the infested areas of the room.
If possible, fumigate the mattresses, the carpets and the upholstered furniture.
Remember to treat infested cats or dogs and their bedding, with applications as advised by your vet.
Repeat treatments in the home and on your pets as necessary.
If this problem persists in your home, do ask your local council Environmental Department personnel for advice.
