Tips to help achieve the best feng shui mirror placement
feng shui mirror placement
It is important to achieve the most fitting feng shui mirror placement to encourage the wonderful chi energies into your home. Mirrors should be placed with great care as they are very powerful tools used to expand the chi energy and make the room space appear larger.
Mirrors help to open up walkways enabling energy to flow into small spaces such as corridors, bathrooms and other small rooms.
They can send light to dark areas, expand dark corners and re-route the flow of chi around tight spaces.
Pa Kua Mirrors
- Mirrors also can mimic a missing area of a room such as in an L shaped room where the quadrant is absent and symmetry is required to balance and harmonize the space.
- Never place mirrors opposite each other as they will bounce the chi backwards and forwards impeding its flow.
- Pa Kua mirrors are too strong to use in the home. Only use them outside to ward off sha energy from buildings.
Polishing Mirrors
- Never use cracked or tarnished mirrors.
- Never use mirror tiles because the reflected image is broken up and may cause some fragmentation of life.
- Always keep mirrors clean that the energies will not become distorted.
- Always make sure that any reflection a mirror is making, is a positive one. If you have not de-cluttered your space, a mirror will give you double the clutter!
- Never use antique mirrors that have become mottled as the reflection they give may not be true.
- Where possible use framed mirrors and if this is not possible have the edges of the mirror bevelled.

SIMPLE FENG SHUI
Feng shui mirror placement in the Hall
- A flat preferable round or oval shaped mirror placed in a hall will brighten the area and create the feeling of more space.
- Place the mirror on a side wall. If it is placed opposite the front door, some of the energy will bounce straight out again.
Feng shui mirror placement in the Bedroom
- The mirror is best hung on a side wall.
- Keep the use of mirrors to a minimum to encourage a peaceful aura.
- Never position a mirror opposite the bed as they are too energetic and may make you sleep fitfully. Mirrors expand energy which is the opposite of what you want when you are trying to sleep.
- Mirrors placed opposite the bed are believed to encourage infidelity by introducing a third or fourth person into the bedroom!
- The best mirror shapes are round or oval. This shape is preferable for creating a gentle flow of chi resulting in harmony.
- Buy a large enough mirror to reflect the whole body. It will reinforce the ego, enabling us to get to know ourselves at different times of the day and throughout the stages of life.
- In a child’s bedroom, place a full-length mirror away from the bed. This will allow the child to develop a strong sense of self.
The best feng shui mirror placement for the Sitting Room
- Mirrors in the sitting room can be used to reflect the world outside, into your room. Only use it for this purpose if the view enhances the space.
- Place the mirror on a side wall not on the opposite wall to the window, as this will cause the chi energy to flow out of the window.
- Mirrors can be used over the fireplace to provide the balancing harmony of a hot fire against the cool reflective element of the silvering of the mirror. In all cases, take the precaution of having a guard in front the fire.
Mirror placement for the Dining Room
- If you place a mirror on the wall opposite your table, it will appear to double your food and drink which could be attractive in itself, but if you work at that same table, it will appear to double your workload, not so attractive!
Best mirror placement for the Bathroom
- A large white–framed mirror (white represents innocence and purity) in the bathroom will appear to enlarge a small room and also will help to give the person a greater sense of self.
- Do not have a bathroom cabinet with two mirror doors as your reflection will be split.
- Do not use mirror tiling as the reflection will again be split.
- It is important for a mirror to give a true reflection.
