Fels Naptha Laundry Soap
Fels Naptha Laundry Soap is the name of a brand of soap that is sold in the form of a large sized (5.5oz) yellow bar.
It has been on the market for 100 years and is manufactured by the Dial Corporation USA.
Fels Naptha Soap does have rather a strong fragrance and has sometimes been found to be a skin irritant so should only be used for occasional necessities.
It is too strong to be used as a general body soap but useful as a home remedy for first aid poison ivy, poison oak treatment, a stain remover and a general household cleaner.
Fels Naptha Soap for Stain Removal
Always check the fabric's washing instructions label before starting your stain removal treatment.
- Fels-Naptha soap can be used for pre-treating many types of stains on clothing.
- It is most effective for removing greasy or oily stains.
- It is recommended that the dampened soap is rubbed onto the stained area prior to laundering.
- For perspiration,
chocolate,
gravy,
make-up,
baby formula,
garage work clothes,
cooking stains
For stubborn stains, grate some of the soap bar into warm water and allow the soiled article to soak for up to 30 minsutes and then launder in the usual way.
- Instead of grating the soap. you can put some of the bar into a jar with water and the soap will melt down gradually, ready for your laundry uses.
Fels Naptha Laundry Soap as part of the First Aid Kit
I first heard about this soap when my friend brushed against the poison ivy plant in the woods near to the house. A woman came to the rescue and advised him to take a warm shower immediately, soaping himself using Fels Naptha soap, avoiding getting any of the soap into his eyes.
By taking a soapy shower, the oils from the plant, containing the irritating toxins were washed away.
My friend was advised to wash all his clothes that may have had any contact with the poison ivy plant, in laundry solution containing Fels Naptha.
This solution can be made up from grating about 1/16th a bar's worth of the Fels-Naptha soap and adding it to the wash cycle.
Fels Naptha Laundry Soap as part of a Cleaning Kit
A solution made with water and Fels-Naptha can also be used as a general cleaner for floors, bathrooms, tiles and showers.
