Evaluatation of Energy Efficient Dishwashers
A comparative load of dishes takes:- 18 litres of water to wash by hand, 36 litres of water to wash in a standard dishwashing machine, 16 litres of water using an efficient dishwashing machine.
Running an Energy Saving Dishwasher
To use your machine wisely, wait until you have a full load, as washing ½ loads takes more water, thereby using more energy and costing more money .
A typical wash cycle uses 1.5Wh worth of electricity. (Check your last bill for today’s cost per unit)
New dishwashers heat their own water which is more efficient than drawing hot water from the central water tank.
Small dishwashers do not always save money as they usually use more energy per place setting so are only cheaper if you have less crockery to wash!

Energy Labels
The EU energy label, rates products from A* (the most efficient/least energy used), down to G (the least efficient/most energy used).
By law, the label must be shown on all dishwashers.
The most efficient products also carry the energy saving recommended logo.
Dishwasher labels carry ratings for washing and drying performances. The A-G indicators here are similar to the main efficiency ratings. (The A rating is best).
Look for information on the noise level of the machine when working. The lower number demonstrates the lower the noise levels.
Check for:-
Length and conditions of guarantee.
The size, height, depth and width of the dishwasher to suit your home needs.
Do take your time to research and compare the efficiency and suitability of your new dishwasher and also it is most important to consider the reliability of the manufacturer and the retailer.
