CLEANING BATHROOM TILES

Custom Search

Cleaning bathroom tiles is a simple job that any agile adult can be asked to do! Bathroom wall tiles stay relatively clean but unfortunately the floor tiles will need frequent cleaning!

Tiles are made from various substances and each type will come with its own cleaning instructions. The best way to keep the bathroom clean is to clean a bit of it every day.

Floor Tiles and Wall Tiles

  • Due to hair fall-out, floor tiles tend to require frequent brushing with a soft broom or careful vacuuming. It is important to avoid scratching the tiles with the wheels or the cleaning head of the vacuum.
  • The area around the toilet will also need frequent washing both the floor and wall tiles.
  • Some people find it easier to use a mop but others will find it easier to go onto their hands and knees and use a bucket and cloth for cleaning purposes.
  • Avoid using any abrasive material such a wire wool to clean the tiles as it will scratch the tile surface.
  • When cleaning the floor, leave the finished job as dry as possible to avoid anyone slipping on the wet surface.

The majority of tiles and grouting can be washed with a regular Soda Crystal or Sugar Soap solution.
  • A popular household cleaning products such a Ciff put onto a cloth to clean tiles and then rinsed off, will also work well. Some lemon juice added to the rinsing water will make the room smell good and give the tiles an extra sheen.
  • Try adding a splash of Dettol into the rinsing water. It will help to sanitize the tiles around the toilet areas.

GROUTING-Household Cleaning Products

  • To clean the grout between the tiles, a solution containing two tablespoons of chlorine bleach to a cup of water can be used.
  • An old toothbrush dipped in this solution and rubbed along the grouting will help to remove any mould.
  • Be careful not to get any bleach onto your clothes.

There are many commercial sprays for use to remove and resist further mould and fungal build up worth considering.

Steam Cleaning Bathroom Tiles

If the bathroom tiles are really in need of a thorough clean, consider using a steam cleaner which remove stubborn stains and kill the majority of bugs and return the room into a hygienic place.
