A CHRISTMAS DECLUTTER
christmas declutter / donating unwanted gifts
The build up to the Christmas Festivities is an exciting time for some and a stressful time for others.
Although some people have few and useful presents, many parents with families are overburdened with both wonderful gifts and also unwanted items.
YOUR CHRISTMAS DECLUTTER
The New Year is the time to sort out the old, the new and the unwanted adult and children's toys, gifts, Christmas wrappings and decorations.
Decorations After removing the decorations from the tree sort out the clutter from the great and beautiful and pack them carefully into a labelled box ready for the tree next year.
Christmas Trees Many Town Councils will give people the opportunity to recycle real conifer Christmas trees. The trees get shredded and the result is made into compost. ( Compost Bins
Wrapping paper cannot be recycled so iron it flat and try to use it for present wrapping throughout the year.
Christmas cards and letters will need to be re-read and enjoyed again. Most people will make a note of all the well wishers and get a new list ready to write to them again in 2011.
OLD--OUTGROWN--UNWANTED--NEW--LOVED--TOYS
Old and Broken Toys may be recycled depending what they are made of.
Outgrown and Unwanted Toys in good condition can be sold, given to friends or donated to charity.
New and Loved Toys and Books need to find a suitable storage place. If you find there are too many toys for the toy cupboard or books for the book shelves then choose the the best most appropriate one for the age and interests of the person and reduce the rest either by keeping them for the future or giving them away.
Wanted and Unwanted Gifts Many, many gifts are exchanged at Christmas Time. Some gifts are absolutely tremendous and you will be happy to use them or display them for all to enjoy whilst others are useless and an embarressment. Sometimes welcome and new gifts can take the place of old and worn out ones and other times gifts need to be kept for a while and can be given away quietly at a later date.
In time and with good household time management you will be able to sort, declutter and organize all the Christmas trappings and have your beautiful home back to just how you want it.
WE WISH YOU A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR
