Avoid using enzyme-based detergents and stain removers on wool and silk fabrics.
Never put a stained article into a hot wash or use hot dryer on the stain as the stain will set making it extremely difficult to remove.
The sooner you treat the stain, the easier it will come out.
Some general tips about beer stain removal.
Where possible lay an absorbent towel under the stain.
If the beer stain is fresh, soak up as much of the liquid as you can, using paper towels or a clean absorbent cloth.
Work from the outside area of the stain towards the centre.
For Beer Stains on Clothes
Massage some Vanish soap or liquid hand washing detergent into the stain.
Rinse the area.
If the stain is stubborn and if the fabric is not too delicate, use an old toothbrush or a soft nail brush and scrub gently on the stain.
OR
Instead of using Vanish, you could sponge the area with a solution of white spirit vinegar 1 part to 5 parts warm water. (Do not use vinegar on fabrics containing triacetate and note that vinegar may bleach clothing)
Either way, when the stain is out, rinse the fabric immediately in cool water and wash the article in a warm wash adding a biological washing powder to the machine.

Beer Stain Removal on Upholstery
If possible lay an absorbent towel under the stain.
If the beer stain is dry, dampen it using a spray bottle containing water or soda water and then blot the stain with paper towels or an absorbent cloth.
Repeat this process until the stain is out.
Blot the upholstery until it is as dry as possible and allow the previously stained area to dry off under natural conditions.
Beer Stain Removal from a Carpet
Blot the stain with a towel or kitchen-roll tissues as soon as possible, remembering to start at the edge of the stain, working your blotting towel towards the central area.
Remove as much of the stain as possible and carry on as above using the water or soda water in a spray and blotting the dirty water off with your clean towel until the stain is gone.
Dry the carpet as much a possible by blotting and then place a dry absorbent towel over the cleaned area and stand on in to squeeze out any remaining liquid. Repeat as necessary.
It is also possible to use carpet shampoo but follow the instructions on the bottle carefully.
