Catch them early,
Hunt them down,
Chase those bed bugs,
Out of town.
Bed Bug Signs
Bed bugs can find a cosy home in any area of the house but around 80% are found in nooks and crannies in bedrooms and most will appear in and around the bed.
These pests can reside in tiny cracks in the ceilings and walls, in furniture, on textiles and in any sheltered space.
They usually prefer to live near to a bed for easy access to their target, a sleeping person.
Bed Bugs Signs in a Room
Bed Bugs measure less than a quarter inch in length, are reddish-brown in color and often go unnoticed until the unsuspecting host and victim awakes to find him/herself with red swellings on the legs, arms, neck, back or any areas that may have been exposed during sleep.
Let’s hope you will not find any of the signs or bed bug bite symptoms but do check for the following.
Use your powerful torch, and go on the hunt for:
- Bites on the exposed parts of the body that appeared after sleeping.
- Bites that itch only about an hour after the actual bite and continue to itch usually for up to one week and then calm down.
(Some people are very sensitive to bed bug bites and thes bites can appear as pus filled bumps needing medical attention.)
- Nests of tiny bed bugs and their faecal matter and their tiny eggs in all possible bug resting places
- Tiny blood spots on your sheets.
- Small brown flecks of bed bug faeces on the sheets or floors.
- A sweet-smelling aroma, produced from bed bug’s glands, wafting around the room.
- Live bugs creeping around, usually after midnight but sometimes even during the day.
