Ideas for Flannel and Towel Storage
Every member of the family should have a personal towel and face flannel. If possible, the towel should be placed on a heated towel rail or specific bathroom radiator. The individual flannels should hang on hooks to dry.
Open shelves in a steamy bathroom are not the ideal storage place for clean towels and flannels. They are better stored in cupboards away from the steam or even better in a warm airing cupboard.
Toilet Paper Storage
It is very important to keep at least one spare toilet roll in view near the toilet. There are many ingenious products on the market for multiple toilet roll storage.
You can even find toilet rolls hidden under the knitted dresses on specially designed dolls that stand on the cistern!
Bath Toy Storage
Children’s bath toys seem to multiply every Christmas and birthday. They start off by sitting around the bath edge and then comes a time when a storage hammock, bag or box appears. To keep toys hygienic, it is necessary to give them a good wash in sterilizing solution from time to time.
Toilet Brush Storage
The toilet brush needs to be kept in an opaque container. After use, the brush should be rinsed in the toilet flush and returned to the container. The brush and container will require regular cleaning and frequent renewal.
Nappy Storage and Nappy Buckets
The bathroom storage of either terry towelling or disposable nappies takes up so much room that it may be advisable to store these near the changing table in the child’s bedroom. As many carers use baby wipes instead of water during nappy changing, it may not be necessary to do the change in the bathroom. Both soiled terry towelling and disposable nappies can be disposed in the nappy bucket which must have a lid but must not contain any water.

CHILD’S STEP
A child step is a wonderful invention allowing the child to reach the wash basin and toilet seat. Many of these steps collapse for easy storage.
BATHROOM STORAGE FOR SOAP, HAIR SHAMPOOS, SHAVING AND DENTAL PRODUCTS
Soap is either used in tablet form or taken from a soap dispenser. The soap, the shampoo, shaving and dental products that are in daily use must be positioned near the place of use, both for easy take and easy return. The storage of extra products should be out of sight, probably in a bathroom cabinet or drawer.
THE STORAGE OF BEAUTY PRODUCTS
Unless the bathroom is really big and has room for individual storage organizers, beauty products for the owner’s sole use are best stored in the bedroom.
MEDICINE/FIRST AID CUPBOARD
The medicine/First Aid cupboard is often fixed to the bathroom wall but could be in the adult’s bedroom. Where ever it is, it should always be kept locked and out of reach of children. Purpose made cupboards are available from many hardware stores.
DIRTY LINEN CONTAINERS
If there is enough space, the appropriate place for collecting dirty washing may be the bathroom. It is a room that everybody uses and where most people discard their clothes!
